"Other" Responses

These are the explanations left by those folks who selected the "Other" option in response to the poll.

"I use it because it is the preserved, inspired Word of God for the English/Protestant speaking world. it is error-free and its words are of divine orgin. God moved the minds and hands of the translators just as He did the authors of the original manuscripts, in order to ensure that His Word was accurately preserved."

"It pisses off Obama."

July 4, 2010, 3:32 am

"Actually I use the ESV and NASB. I find them as accurate if not more than the KJV due to fact that it translates from both sets of manuscript families. I also find it more readable."

April 28, 2010, 11:35 pm

"Because of people that will only use it. I prefer the NASB as a more accurate translation."

April 28, 2010, 8:15 pm

"There are other good versions. Since Paul didn\\\'t use the King James, I think we can have freedom to use them all. "

March 19, 2010, 2:24 am

"I don't use it, but I'm studying this issue and trying to figure out why or if modern versions are incorrect."

February 15, 2010, 8:14 pm

"I grew up with it."

December 27, 2009, 11:23 pm

"Comfortable, TR (but not that KJ contains errors), Preserved Word, lovely language - poetic flow is easier to memorize - which is very important to "storing up God's words in your heart"!"

November 20, 2009, 3:12 pm

"The King James version seems to be the one that is God\'s Word expressed as He would have it expressed and is easy to understand if you are a believer that is truly Born Again and accepting of the Truth as it is brought to you."

November 8, 2009, 9:46 am

"I use it because there are not any versus omitted and words like Christ or Calvary or for Thine is the Kingdom and the Power and the Glory forever... omitted."

November 7, 2009, 10:23 pm

"Because of it's historical significance. It is only contains the name "authorized" because of its authorization from the Church of England and parliament. It's authorization does not come from a council, larger ecclestiastical authority, or protected canon; nor is it the first bible translated to English. But its historical significance is immence."

November 2, 2009, 9:43 am

"Along with other translations."

October 23, 2009, 10:04 pm

"there is no other bible! it is THE WORD OF GOD and we should never forget it. all others are false!!"

October 17, 2009, 11:15 pm

"It is the infalliable worg of GOD. there are no errors or mistakes because GOD inspired the men who wrote his word. "

October 17, 2009, 8:33 am

"Speaking different languages creates confusion and gives Satan an advantage."

October 13, 2009, 8:47 pm

"No other interpretation I've heard/read conveys what the Holy Spirit speaks to me through the KJV. Modern interpretations try in vain to tell me what the scriptures mean but the Holy Spirit does a much superior job through the KJV. Besides, why would any one use an interpretation that has the same omissions and deletions as the so called "New World Translation" used by a world wide cult? To indiscriminately remove even the thee's and thou's mutilates the scriptures. They were in the original so it's just 'wrong' to remove them. "

October 8, 2009, 9:46 pm

"fulness of from heart to heart "

October 3, 2009, 7:20 pm

"I think the KJV is a good translation. Is it the most accurate? I don't think so. Is the KJV more accurate than Greek? Seriously, that's crazy talk!"

September 30, 2009, 9:33 am

"KJV has fewest errors of any translation...Majestic reading.Truly in the KJV, the inspired Word of God is preserved."

September 28, 2009, 9:28 pm

"Modified Preserved Word: I use it because it is the accurate, preserved Word of God for the English-speaking world. Printing errors and spelling standardization that have been fixed since 1611 do not negate its inspiration. "

September 23, 2009, 5:42 pm

"WE use it becuase of the authors of the Revised Version of 1881. They were "Spiritualist" (possibly not saved), they used a manuscripts from Origen who did NOT believe in the literal truth of the Bible, and of Psalm 12:6 which is changed in the other translations. The words "by the blood" and Jesus is omitted too many times. That would make it "antichrist". This was a big challenge for us and a s we studied "to shew thyslef approved" and prayed, the LORD led us to the truth of the KJV."

September 23, 2009, 1:17 pm

"I use it some because I grew up with it. I prefer the ESV or the NASB since both are very good translations in modern english."

September 20, 2009, 3:02 pm

"The king James Bible is a likely first introduction to the written word. After that people usually feel a kinship with it and it becomes the authority of bible reading."

September 14, 2009, 4:21 pm

"I believe that the originally written Scriptures have conveyed God's inspired words into other languages; that God has preserved the inspired words from the original tongues by providentially insuring to us verbal equivalence; that providentially prepared language and cultural translations are inspired and alive in the same way that the Autographs were inspired and alive; that the King James Bible was translated from the original tongues (Hebrew, Aramaic and Konei Greek) into English from an eclectic collection of inspired Scripture fragments and manuscripts which were preserved through God's divine providence first through the Hebrew people and later in the church of the living God (ancient Baptists) and that it was diligently compared to former translations (English, Old Latin, etc.); that the Authorized Version translators were not moved by the Holy Spirit in the same way as the original prophets were, but that they were God's gifted instruments in selecting and translating the inspired texts and words to "

"Preserved & Inspired Word -- I use it because it is the preserved, inspired Word of God for the English-speaking world. It is error-free and its words are of divine origin. God moved the minds and hands of the translators as He did the authors of the original manuscripts, in order to ensure that His Word was accurately preserved. God delivered to the English-speaking people a Bible that is sure and settled."

September 11, 2009, 2:47 pm

"God inspired His word once and preserved it. The King James Bible is God's word in English. It is perfect without any textual error."

September 6, 2009, 5:22 pm

"New King James Bible, Gods inspried word and truth. In english but still the same as the Old King James Bible. Easer for me and others to understand and study. "

September 1, 2009, 5:44 pm

"I believe that the KJV translators used the correct manuscripts to translate and did an accurate translation thereof. God has blessed their faithfulness which was required during the translation. I believe God gave them Holy Spirit guidance, but did not re-write the Bible during the translation as if they were the original writers."

August 31, 2009, 1:14 pm

"It is preserved and inspired, but I do not believe the translators were inspired. There is no error in any part of our beloved KJBible."

August 30, 2009, 9:03 pm

"I believe the King James Bible, not just use it, because that's the version God preserved, uses and used since it was translated."

August 29, 2009, 1:34 pm

"I LIKE THE KING JAMES BIBLE BECAUSE IT TELLS US WERE WE OR GOING AND WERE WE OR HAND IT AND WERE WE WILL IN UP ITS OUR CHOICE THE LORD IS SO GOOD HE LET THE WORD FOR US THROW A MAN THAT HARD HIS VOICE AND WAS IN INSPIRED TO WRITE.THANK YOU TO THE MAN THAT LIST TO GOD. BE BLESS"

August 27, 2009, 12:19 am

"The KJV is the time-tested, time proven version of the Bible."

August 26, 2009, 10:13 pm

"It is poetic in form therefore making it easier to memorize. It carries a sense of authority. However, I believe in innerrancy as it applies to the original manuscripts which we don't have. King James is a reliable translation with archaic language. It becomes more laborius not only explaining the intent of the original text but translating King James language. By the way, King James was a tyrannical scoundrel. One must keep in mind that the term, "Authorized King James Version" equates to the state government authorizing the translation. That should make one a bit suspicious of the work since its coming from the government. I know for a fact it is a good translation because I took 3 years of Greek in Bible college. Though I am not King James only it is still and always will be my main Bible. I caution people when reading other translations especially NIV. New American Standard is a good translation but I tell others to never rely on one translation alone."

August 23, 2009, 11:27 am

"I don't use the KJV. I use the NIV or the Message."

August 22, 2009, 8:45 pm

"KJV 1769 - Those who updated the English text for the fifth time were inspired, not the 1611 translators."

August 21, 2009, 6:19 pm

"I like it only because I grew up using the KJ Bible."

August 11, 2009, 9:09 am

"I believe that the King James Bible is the preserved Word of God for English-speaking people. However, I will not go as far as to say that God moved the translators just as He did Paul or John. That's not right to say. On the other hand, simply to say that the Bible is "preserved but not inspired" is wrong, because if you preserve something that IS inspired, you preserve that inspiration, too (duh)! You don't lose inspiration during the preservation process, otherwise you're not really preserving anything at all, are you? It's really not as difficult as a lot of people make it. God promised to preserve His inspired Word, and He did that without having to "re-inspire" the 17th century translators. Amen!"

August 10, 2009, 5:59 pm

"I feel that it is the most accurate translation from the original Hebrew and Greek that the English speaking language has to offer."

August 10, 2009, 8:35 am

"It's the best translation we have from the original greek and hebrew. while there are notably a few mistakes because the translaters didn't understand certain future events as we do today, it is the inspired word of God."

August 6, 2009, 3:33 pm

"I agree with the Preserved & Inspired Word, except for the errors comment..I Believe the 1611 has stood the test of time and is error free simply because it is the Word of God. I have studied pretty much all translations and like to use them in study, but for me it is the King James 1611 period. It was written for a people with a sixth grade level of comprehenshion and I have found no errors in it period! Most of the time when someone says they find errors, they are not rightly dividing the truth, or taking scripture out of context. Yes the King James 1611 is my Bible and will be till I die..:)"

August 6, 2009, 1:07 am

"It is the only true translation of the word of God taken from the Textus Receptus. There are no errors. It is divinely inspired and preserved; it is not defiled by man. There are no printing or spelling errors. "

August 4, 2009, 12:36 pm

" It is the Preserved Inspired Word of God "

August 2, 2009, 4:09 pm

"Sound King James Bible only -- I use it because it is the final form of the Received Text, gathered from providentially preserved copies, giving by perfect translation the inspired Word in an exemplar form, set to be the supersuccessionary Bible for the whole world. It is an error-free version and translation, and its words are of divine origin. God inspired the words by the original penmen creating flawless Autographs, and God providentially preserved through lineages of evidence, so that the translators were able to gather correctly and put into one English Bible accurately, matching sense for sense what was originally inspired. The correction of printing errors and spelling standardisation that constitute the finite purification of the presentation since the first printing of 1611 does not negate its textual and translational perfection."

August 2, 2009, 7:06 am

"The reason I read from the King James version of the Bible is this : I do not have the ability to read the ancient manuscripts in their native tongue. I do not have the training to accurately translate from their original language into english the afore mentioned manuscripts. The Bible is God's objective word of truth ; it presupposes three principles, it is God's, it is objective and it is the word of truth. So, one is left to decide which of the myriad of translations meet all three criteria to be regarded as genuine Scripture ? I believe the one which most clearly and closely adheres to the established qualifications for authenticity is in fact the King James version of the Bible."

August 1, 2009, 6:17 am

"I read the KJV because it is the inspired word of God. 2 Timothy 3:16,17 says 16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works."

July 31, 2009, 9:14 am

"Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar. Proverbs 30:5-6"

July 30, 2009, 6:04 pm

"I only use it wo wipe my ass when I run out of toilet paper"

July 29, 2009, 5:26 am

"I use the NASB and ESV because it is more accurate than the Authorized Version of 1769 and definitely the first revision in 1611."

July 28, 2009, 4:11 pm

"Please change the definition of preserved on the website. Preserved does not mean it as an accurate translation and most or all errors have been worked out of it over the years since 1611. Preserved means God preserved it so it is 100 percent correct. Translators, printers, king James, and people do not preserved the Bible. Our beloved King James Bible is preserved by God not man. Please change the meaning on the website."

July 26, 2009, 6:44 pm

"I don't -- I believe there are other translations (such as the ESV) that are at least as sound as the KJV. The KJV is a beloved translation, but we should keep our minds and hearts open to some of the quality new translations God has given us."

July 26, 2009, 5:58 pm

"I prefer the ESV."

July 26, 2009, 7:51 am

"God breathed and there is no other! If common sense makes sense, seek no other sense!"

July 25, 2009, 10:41 pm

"The definition for Preserved Word is wrong on the website. It is not accurate, most or all errors have been worked out of it over the years since 1611. Preserved means 100 percent correct, pure, and no error. Because the word of God is Preserved by God. Psalms 12:7 Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever. God does the preserving not translators, printers, king james, or hebrew and greek scholars. Please change the definition."

July 25, 2009, 12:20 pm

"In the fullness of time, in a series of events by persecuted men, God gave us, as an English-speaking people, His Word. Its English is solemn. Though the translators were not holy men of old, God did use them in preserving His Word to the English nations. I use the King James Bible because God taught me on my knees after my intensive study of the TR, that He has preserved and given me His Word and that I can fully trust the King James 1611/1769 edition."

July 24, 2009, 8:04 am

"I use it because it is the most accurate and best translation available from the textus receptus, and the textus receptus is the best Greek manuscript family available. The King James may contain errors in translation, nevertheless it is the Word of God for the English-speaking world."

July 23, 2009, 11:10 pm

"Preserved & Inspired Word -- I use it because it is the preserved, inspired Word of God for the English-speaking world. It is error-free and its words are of divine origin. I don't believe in "Double Inspiration" or "Reinspiration". God has preserved His Word, therefore it (KJV) is inspired. The printing errors and spelling standardization that have been fixed since 1611 do not negate its inspiration."

July 23, 2009, 9:56 pm

"Preserved Word -- I can say that I hold in my hands "the inspired Word of God." I trust its very words because it is the accurate, preserved Word of God for the English-speaking world. Its words are inspired, or God-breathed, because it is an accurate translation, and God has promised in Psalm 12:6,7 to keep His Word accurate and available for every generation."

July 23, 2009, 9:12 am

"The King James Bible is the only acceptable Word of God for the English-speaking peoples of the world. The tedious ammount of accuracy that was required of the translators, combined with the astounding scholarly credentials of these men, affords the greatest, and only accurate English translation in common use today. Intelligent and competent attention was paid to ensure the preservation of the Words of God into the English language, from the Hebrew and Greek manuscripts used in the translation. The signature of God is clearly seen through this preservation process, and no other manuscripts are even close as far as accuracy is concerned. It is my belief that the King James is the ONLY TRUE Word of God in English, and that ALL other English versions fall disappointingly short."

July 23, 2009, 8:24 am

"Preserved & Inspired, More accurate than the Greek"

July 22, 2009, 11:51 pm

"I have always used the King James Bible, but because of the scholarship and education of men I received from the King James Bible summit. I now will consider the NIV and other better translations. My eyes have been opened knowing good and evil..."

July 22, 2009, 7:42 pm

"Number 3 says Preserved. But it says accurate that is wrong. It also says most or all errors have been worked out of it over the years since 1611 and that is wrong also. Preserved means God does the preserving not man, not translators, not king James himself, and not printers. Whenever you teach on the God's preservation watch out when they start mentioning translators and printers. It is by faith you trust in the pure and 100 percent correct word of God the King James Bible. Please don't listen to those who use translators, translating, king James himself, printers, and errors of man to critic our preserved Bible. When it comes to preservation. God does the preserving of His inspired word of God the King James Bible!!! Amen and amen"

July 22, 2009, 7:08 pm

"I still use the KJV occasionally, but I usually use the ESV and NASB."

July 22, 2009, 3:26 pm

"The King James Version of the Bible is God's Word. I have no need, interest or time to seek out others."

July 22, 2009, 8:12 am

"My position would be a combination of the 2nd and 3rd choices you offer. "

July 22, 2009, 6:58 am

"All of the suggestions above have somewhat truth about them but the most important reason of all for me is that the King James Bible is a Holy Ghost conviction, a conviction of heart and mind."

July 22, 2009, 6:17 am

"I don't "USE" the KJV, I believe it, preach it, and try to live it because it is the "word" (note the small "w") of God. It is the scripture, 2Tim 3:16. No other manuscript or translation comes close in comparison. As Christ is the standard for all righteousness & holiness, the King James Holy Bible is to truth."

July 22, 2009, 12:10 am

"I use it when I have to."

July 21, 2009, 9:13 pm

"I don't use it at all. It's high time us Bible believers, allow the Bible to use us. Just as Christ is not to be used, but we should allow us to be used of him. There are to many Christians that use Jesus and his word for a Meal "Jn 6:26". They use Jesus for a Moment, like one would use a crutch, only when needed. They use Jesus for a Miracle Lk 17:17. They use Jesus for Money Jn 12:6. To be used is a position of surrender."

July 21, 2009, 7:33 pm

July 21, 2009, 7:06 pm

"I use the NIV and the ESV."

July 21, 2009, 3:34 pm

"I don't use the King James Version."

July 21, 2009, 2:43 pm

"I believe the KJV is the preserved Word of God in English. The KJV is inerrant. The inspiration of the original text was providentially preserved in the KJ text, but the translators themselves were not inspired as the original writers. The printing errors and spelling standardization that have been fixed since 1611 does not negate its inspiration. "

July 21, 2009, 1:14 pm

"I believe it is the inspired word of God that does excel over the Greek but I do not claim to seek the specifics of where this will manifest itself."

July 21, 2009, 12:55 pm

"I use it because God superintended it's translaton through the leadership of the Holy Spirit as He gave direction to the 40 or more men who were learned linguist and each one agreed as to it's accuracy."

July 21, 2009, 12:48 pm

"I use it and other conservative modern translations...they are all God's Word."

July 21, 2009, 12:12 pm

"I rarely use it anymore as I prefer the NIV and NASB."

God moved the minds and hands of the translators to ensure that His Word was accurately preserved. The printing errors and spelling standardization that have been fixed since 1611 do not negate its inspiration."

July 21, 2009, 9:54 am

"I don't use it because the language and syntax is three hundred ninety eight years old and our understanding of Greek and Hebrew has advanced quite a bit in that time. While I respect its place in history I have chosen to use a newer translation that was completed with the same goals and means of the original translators of the KJV."

July 21, 2009, 9:54 am

"I fall somwhere between 3 and 4 I believe God used the translators, but in a differnt way than the prophets and apostles. KJB is inspired only because God perserved it"

July 21, 2009, 8:46 am

"I use it sparingly because it is merely the best translation at the time it was translated but is not today due to changes in the English language. It was also translated from the best text of the day which has since been surpassed."

July 21, 2009, 8:16 am

"I think this is silly. "

July 21, 2009, 12:28 am

"I use it because I enjoy the archaic, Shakespearean language which is so relevant to my life today."

July 20, 2009, 10:48 pm

"I only use it when I'm required to."

July 20, 2009, 10:43 pm

"I use it because it is the perfect, preserved Word of God for the English-speaking world. It's the only translation from the textus receptus, instead of the minority, corrupted, Alexandrian texts."

July 20, 2009, 10:39 pm

"I use the KJV as I believe it is the preserved word of God. Under conviction, based upon the knowledge of altered doctrine in other versions, I haven't stopped using the KJV."

July 20, 2009, 10:23 pm

"I use the KJV because I believe the translators provided a perfect English translation without any errors. Inspiration was not necessary and any 'errors' were simple modifications which standardizes the English language."

July 20, 2009, 10:22 pm

"Use the KJV for uniformity and clarity among the believers. BUT if the KJV is summarized by the last 2 descriptions above, why are there so many books and commentaries explaining what the Elizabethan English is saying? "

July 20, 2009, 10:03 pm

"I use it because God said He would preserve His word which means only one. The KJV. I believe all so called mistakes have been or will be disproven over time as they have been in the past."

July 20, 2009, 9:35 pm

"I use the King James Bible because I am confident that it is the absolute best English translation faithfully translated from the correct family of manuscripts (The Mazoretic Old Testament text and the Tetus Receptus for the New Testament). I believe that God has providentially preserved His Word in those texts and that the King James Bible is clearly the superior English translation because of the superior method by which it was translated and the superiority of men that did the translating has never been"

July 20, 2009, 9:30 pm

"I don't exactly know, I just know that I feel comfortable with it, but I also love my Living Bible, the paraphrase as well as the Amplified plus other new additions. "

July 20, 2009, 9:07 pm

"I use it because it is the accurate, infallable, Perfectly preserved word of God for the english speaking people. I do not believe in double inspiration! But I do believe in divine preservation."

July 20, 2009, 8:52 pm

"I use the King James Bible because I believe that it is the inerrant and infallible preserved word of God in the English language. I believe that it carries the same authority as the original manuscripts and in that sense it is inspired of God."

July 20, 2009, 8:48 pm

"I use it because it's the translation I grew up with, and ergo I'm comfortable with the KJV. But I also use other translations. "

July 20, 2009, 8:37 pm

"I use the KJV because that is the only one that God will speak to me through. And that, to me, supersedes all the above reasons. I want to hear from God, not from people's opinions - KJV only"

July 20, 2009, 8:31 pm

"I use it because it is an accurate, formal equivalent to the original languages. It is also more widely known as an accurate translation. It causes less offense to those good brothers who have a higher conviction on the TR. "

July 20, 2009, 7:55 pm

"I use it because it is the preserved, inspired Word of God for the English-speaking world. It is error-free and its words are of divine origin.
